Honors and Awards


2023
--Finalist (and winner in the Environment category, $100) in the 10th edition of the literary contest “Cuéntale tu cuento a la Nota Latina” with the short story “Polvo somos”.
--Leonor and Justo Ulloa Award ($200) for the best article published in the fall 2023 edition of the Mountain Interstate Foreign Language Review.
--Yale Scholars as Learners – Coaching for Success Award. To work with a research assistant to analyze data pertaining to the benefits of Virtual Exchange in the Spanish class. 
--Yale Professional Development Leave. During the 2023 fall semester, to prepare a content-based intensive intermediate Spanish course for the spring of 2024. 
2022
--Yale Connections and Collaboration Dinner Program ($300). To support expenses related to a lunch meeting with faculty members from the department of Spanish, Italian, and German to discuss the feasibility of eliminating textbooks in our language programs.
--Yale Instructional Enhancement Fund (IEF) ($500). To support expenses related to a socialization activity in the Hispanic community in New Haven for participants in the Bilbao study abroad summer program.
--Yale Center for Language Studies Instructional Innovation Workshop ($1,000). To renovate the syllabus of an existing course (intensive interm.) using backward design.

2021
--Yale Center for Language Studies Fellowship. During the spring 2022, to organize data of a research study that investigates the cultural benefits of a virtual exchange platform in the foreign language class.
--Yale Instructional Enhancement Fund (IEF) ($300). To support the creation of audiovisual materials to enhance students’ intercultural competence.

2019
--Yale Scholars as Learners – Coaching for Success Award. To work with a research assistant to analyze statistical data using SPSS for a research study that investigates the validity and reliability of SPAN 110 grammar exams and reading exams.
--Yale Instructional Enhancement Fund (IEF) ($100). To purchase SPSS to perform statistical research on the reliability of SPAN 110 exams.
--Yale Linda Lorimer Teaching Award for Distinguished Service (nominated)
2009
--Yale Center for Language Studies Instructional Innovation Workshop ($700). To learn how to do online assessments. 
2004
--UT-Austin ASPECTS Award (first recipient ever).
