CURRENT PROJECT: SPAN S241: Catalonia in Modern Spain
Creation of a new 5-week study abroad Spanish course in Catalonia, Spain. My colleague Lourdes Sabé and I are working on the curriculum of this course that we hope to offer in the summer of 2026 in Barcelona or nearby.
Past Project: Intensive Intermediate Spanish Course Redesign Project
Redesign of SPAN 145 to align it with 21st-century pedagogies, including the elimination of the textbook.
Past Project: Film digitalization
In 2016, I started converting VHS and DVD movies, videos, and documentaries in Spanish to a digital format for the Spanish Department, so that they can be accessed on Canvas (Spanish Media) by our faculty, for class purposes.
Past project: Creation of course packets
As the coordinator of SPAN 110, I created and updated the course packet from 2008 to 2020. In 2020, I digitalized it and offered it to students for free on the Canvas platform. I have also updated the Bilbao study abroad course packet from 2017 to 2022.
Past project: Curriculum developer
In 2011, I was asked by the Yale New Haven Hospital interns to create an online Spanish elementary course. Two years later, they asked me to create the intermediate level course.
Past Project: Virtual Exchange Benefits
In 2021, I carried out action-research study that investigated the cultural benefits of Virtual Exchange in the 2nd-semester Spanish class to examine the presence of cultural products, practices, and perspectives, and the overall benefits.
